Kama Ayurveda Suvarna Brightening Face Pack

I am a huge face masks lover, I always have been. A face mask was the only consistent thing I was doing in terms of skincare during in my school time :D I find using a face mask quite relaxing, whether I put one on & carry on with my work or when I take 10-15 minutes off and just unwind. I think that they are a great way to boost things up while taking sometime out for self-care. I also like using homemade masks as often as I can, but sometimes it is difficult to make one at home & that's why I like to keep some pre-made masks in my skincare stash too. Some masks have become a staple over time, I do like trying out new ones once in a while.
The Kama Ayurveda Nimrah Face Mask - reviewed HERE had been a favourite of mine for many years so when the brand launched the Suvarna Haldi Chandan Brightening Face Mask, I wanted to try it out.

Here's the thing - I love the ingredients in the mask. However, I am not a fan of the mask itself. I know it sounds ridiculous, but here's why :
  • I experience a slight burning sensation every time I use it. Now, I do not mind slight tingling, the Glamglow Supermud tingles and I do not mind that. But burning makes me concerned. My skin is acne-prone and slightly sensitive. I also have dermatitis. So any kind of burning sensation is a big no-no for me. Maybe the quantity of an ingredient is too strong for my skin?
  • I also did not see any major effect post using the mask. My face looked clean & slightly fresher, but I can get this with a good cleanser too. Normally most ubtans & masks give a slight glow albeit temporary post use, but I didn't get that with this.
  • This mask also leaves a yellow tint behind after washing, because of the Amba Haldi I suppose? The yellow tint goes after sometime, but that also means that you cannot use the immediately before you have to go out somewhere.
  • The fragrance of the mask is also very strong. I would tolerate it if the above cons did not happen. The FE Soundarya ubtan has a strong smell too & I don't mind it a lot because I get a good result with that one.

On the positive side the powder is very fine and does not have harsh/rough granules. It can be mixed with any medium of your preference. It is easy to apply and wash off. It also gives mild but gentle physical exfoliation when you take it off.

I am not saying that the product is bad. Maybe it did not suit my skin and could work fine for you. But I would highly recommend you to do a patch test!

Price : 985 INR for 40g ( available here )

Unfortunately this mask did not work for me and was a disappointment overall. I am finishing it by using it on my neck and as an ubtan on my arms because I do not want to waste the product. It is expensive and would rather put my money in the Forest Essentials Ubtans over this or use a homemade mask/ubtan instead - I can pretty much mix multani mitti, orange peel powder, haldi & sandalwood (half of the ingredients in this mask) myself at home.
