Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Chocolate Velvet : Review
Written by: Smriti on:
Revlon is a brand known for its quality products priced
at the mid to high range of drugstore prices. I specially love its lip
products, the Colorburst lip glosses are no stranger to any self-respecting
makeup junkie. Revlon's Super Lustrous lipsticks are a class of makeup
veterans, in my opinion. They have been around since forever, and the simple
gold and black packaging is something I can recall from my earliest childhood
memories of playing with makeup.
These lipsticks are so deliciously creamy that applying
them is a dream come true, and the pigmentation is absolutely amazing. Gorgeous
colour in one light swipe! All beauties with pigmented lips can forget their
qualms and invest in a couple of these. What's more, they come in an
overwhelming collection of 72 shades, so there is something for every girl-
from the sexy diva to the demure damsel. Win!
On sniffing, I discerned a moderately strong smell. It's
kind of oily/plasticky, not nice. That honestly lets the Super Lustrous range
down. Sensitive noses should probably stay away, though the smell does not
linger long once applied.
The staying power is quite nice considering how creamy
they are, nearly 4 hours, after which all deep colours leave behind a pretty
stain.
However, they are all highly transferable, so don’t expect them to survive a meal, and spare the boy from getting grounded. :P

I have never felt the need to apply lip balm beneath
them, except when I prefer to sheer out the colour. The formula is non sticky,
quite hydrating, and does not accentuate fine lines. Although you should
exfoliate your lips before applying any lipstick for best results.
The packaging is good. Shiny black body and a cap that closes with a click. There are stickers with the number and name below. The best part is the transparent top which helps a lot to locate the shade.

Chocolate Velvet is a milk chocolate brown, but
somehow it doesn’t look boring, or ageing at all! It’s very wearable, with a
slight pink undertone, and can again be sheered out should you wish to do so.
Overall it is a nice shade when you want to change from your pinks and peaches. A brown that does not make you dull is a good find.
Price: 550/- for 4.2gm
Will put up the other two shades soon. Stay tuned! :)
