Get Organized : Nirmala Franklin Planner

I have a bit of an OCD...there I said it out loud! It's not the crazy kind though. Just the one which makes good sense. Like having everything around me organized. I like having a place for everything and keeping them right there, and I cannot find peace in clutter. To the point that if I am about to sit down and work (studies or blogging) I cannot concentrate until everything is proper around me. Good sense yeah?
Similarly, I like having a place to write down stuff. Right from to-do lists to important reminders, appointments for the day, blogging ideas & schedule and even random thoughts. Previously, I was using Google Keep to jot all of this down. While that is definitely very handy and I still use it on the go, there is something extremely satisfying about writing stuff down on paper and crossing it off when I get it done. It is so satisfying! Yes, I am old school that way :D
I have wandered in Landmark and Crossword in search for good diaries, journals, notebooks something that could cover everything I needed, never to find anything that could quite serve my purpose. I even gave up and decided to print me a customised one. Then I came across Nirmala Franklin!
They are 7.25" x 9.25" in size making them eay to be carried around in your bag. There are different variants available, and you will surely like one of them. (warning: this is a pic heavy post)
The first few pages are to write down your name, and a few inspiring lines.
The planner is divided into 3 layouts:
- Yearly - This is a complete calender for the year. You can easily look up the days and and dates. I like to circle the important hoildays and birthdays in this one.
- Monthly - Every month has its exclusive overview. There are laminated color coded tabs on the side to get to the specific month easily. The monthly calender is divided into small boxes where you can fill in small details for each date. Important events, birthdays, anniversaries all go into this one for me. Holidays and leaves (if pre planned) also get marked here. There is a notes section on the side which comes in handy to wirte down the main things to do (if any) for that month.
- Daily - Next is the daily overview for each month. This is spread across the next 4-5 pages, where each day is broken down into Morning, Day and Night. There is enough space to jot down all your activities and engagements according to time so that things don't get mixed up. I like jotting down my patient appointments for each day, presentations and other engagements (parlor..yes there is a sticker for that, you'll see that soon ; picking/dropping off laundy ; grocery shopping ; getting printouts ; shopping ; lunches and dinners....jot down anything).
There is a column on the side for your to-do list and another notes section at the bottom :)
After all the months, comes the next section. Expenses.
A much needed section to keep me in check (I have a tendency to not keep a tab otherwise). I don't enter the everyday expenses here, you can though if you want to. Just the major ones, monthly groceries and shopping (shoes, clothes, makeup) or any other major expenditure I did. It is divided into monthly columns so that you get an overview of what you spent the most on that month. It is a very effective way of keeping yourself in check.
Next up is Contacts.
Let's face it, we store all our contacts on the phone these days. Who has the habit of mainting address books anymore. And quite honestly I don't even remember any phone numbers except perhaps home. So this is such a life saver, especially when the phone konks off someday and all your contacts are lost. You don't need to put up a status on Facebook asking people to inbox you their numbers anymore :)
Additionally, you can enter the birthday and email id of the person as well.
Last section is Notes.
A few ruled pages and a few blank ones. There is so much you can wirte down here. Playlists, must watch movies lists, wishlists, recipes....yeah, so much you can write down. I like writting ideas for my blog posts here as well. The blank pages come in very handy if you have a sudden urge to doodle :)
There is the next years calender towards the end.
Now comes the fun part. There are loads of sticker tabs at the end. Birthdays, Anniversary, Movie, Parlour, Party, Holidays, Vacations, Shopping, Weddings....these tabs have got you covered. There are some blank tabs as well for you to use. Just add the tabs on the montly calender and make your planner look all cool!

There is a sturdy 2 sided pocket folder. Store your important letters, receipts, invites, visiting cards in one place.
And like that wasn't enough, there is a clear Zip Lock Bag! Who would have thought of that in a planner! Whoa! Pictures, postcards, super important stuff that can get easily damaged go in here and stay safe! Genius!

This is such a fabulous planner! I am sure you got to know how much I love it already. The cover is laminated hard plastic which makes sure that it always look as good as new. No tattered edges, no tears. The metal spring hold the entire planner nicely. It is very sturdy overall. It has a very nicely layout. I love the way it is divided into months and individual days. The additional sections have clearly been very thoughtfully included. It has everything in one place! Functional and Pretty.
These planners would make for such wonderful gifts as well! Who wouldn't like to own one of these!
I would love to see Nirmala come up with more designs and different sizes maybe :)
