A while back when L'Oreal launched the Pure Reds collection, I was smitten. Such a versatile collection to suit a range of skin tones and occasions! How is a girl supposed to pick just one?
Luckily, I didn't, and now I have two of these beauties to share with you :)
Pops of colour are always welcome, whether it be balmy summers, or dreary monsoons, or even pale winters. Even though red is a classic for all weathers, I finally picked Pure Amaranthe for its bright and fun shade, a bold rebel among the monotone collection.
The lipstick looks classy in black, with a pink button to help you identify the shade. The cap clicks into place, but I have a strange feeling that it's not secure enough. I haven't yet had a mishap with it so I'm probably just being too suspicious.
Inside, the pointed bullet twists up smoothly. The tip is slightly rounded, the slant steep and slightly dipping. I love this design as it hugs my lips perfectly, making application a dream!
Pure Amaranthe is Gong Li's pick, a beautiful fuchsia with red undertones. It perks up my complexion with a single swipe, although I haven't yet developed the courage to wear it full on :P Being a very statement-making colour, I suggest you exercise discretion when choosing Pure Amaranthe. It isn't appropriate for all work environments, or colleges.
That said, I still love to wear it as a stain. The lipstick is so incredibly pigmented that even the lightest of dabs leaves a gorgeous pink tint on my lips. You can't see any product, just a pretty colour which lasts through the day, and through a shower too! It doesn't budge until wiped off with remover!
Texture wise, lipsticks of this collection are the same as those of the Moist Mat range (reviewed here). The feel is creamy, but it settles down to a silky matte on the lips.
I'm thoroughly enjoying wearing Pure Amaranthe, albeit as a very light layer. It's suited for all, and if you have the confidence to accompany it, I think Pure Amaranthe can make one power-packed pout!
