Let's Talk a Little About Feminine Hygiene

Among all the beauty and fashion related posts, somehow the important things get pushed behind. I wanted to do a hygiene related post since a long time...better late than never! Considering our country, where a lot of things are hushed up, a lot of mothers might have never had the talk with their daughters about maintaining things where they ought to be maintained. I keep wondering why women do not talk more about these things! There are many things we can learn from each other...right?
Discussed below are a some pointers and a few products that I personally like using. Read on!

L'Oreal Glam Shine Balm Gloss, Peach Pleasure : Swatches & Review

I am a big fan of chubby sticks, they are so easy to carry around, so easy to apply and in general look super cute.
So, a while back I picked up the L'Oreal Glam Shine Blam Gloss in Peach Pleasure (after seeing some pretty swatches online...yeah I got tempted!). And while this is a pretty colour, I somehow do not reach for it as often as I should. Read on to know why.

NYX Vivid Brights, Vivid Envy : Review, Swatch

Because why should we stick to only black eyeliners?

I cannot help but incorporate some fun bright colours into makeup when summer and monsoons are around, Blues, greens, bright purples they are so perfect to be sported this time of the year, don't you think so?

This season, I surprisingly found myself using coloured liners (usually I stick to coloured pencils on my lower lash line, if you were wondering)
While I will talk about the other one in a few days, the NYX Vivid Brights in Vivid Envy is what we will be discussing today.

Hooked Onto : July 2017

July was a super hectic month for me. If you have been following us here or on Instagram you would know that I had exams and it was one of the toughest things I have ever had to do.
Since I was quite busy with the exams I did not have the time to try out many new things. I have combined some of my June favourites with a few of the things I liked in July as well into one post Take a look :)

Hello all!
After being a bit absent all July, I am finally done with exams and now can truly focus on the blog (which is all I have ever wanted to do ever since this baby started). I am brainstorming on newer posts and hopefully you will see a lot more content henceforth!

On that note, here's introducing "Style Edit" where I will be talking about my recent fashion favourites...you know the stuff I keep reaching out too most over the past weeks, the things in my closet that have been getting lots of love lately (old or new)

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Blush, Make Love Instead : Review & Swatches

Hello everyone!

Half my makeup collection is dominated by Makeup Revolution, the other half by Maybelline. Two real budget-friendly brands with a plethora of products to choose from and no compromise on quality!

When I didn't own any baked powders, I never understood the hype, but now I have. Baked powders give you more pigmentation and minimal fallout, and a more aesthetically pleasing product too. I wish I could say that the pigmentation pulls me in, but honestly, it's the prettiness 😃

Random Things About Me : Smriti's Edition

Ever since Swati did her 30 Random Facts, she has been pestering me to do the same. Not only is it fun, she said, it also gives our community a glimpse into the person we really are.

And they break the monotony of the blog too.

So here I am, penning down the little quirks that make me, me. I haven't decided on a particular number that I want to share so make sure you click on that 'Read more' button to find out how far I went!

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder : Review

Phew! That is quite a long name for one product!
But, if the product is mind blowingly fabulous, I really will not complain about how long the name is. They can add 10 more words in there, for all I care!

Guide to Good Skin : Facial Oils!

Hello everybody, it's time for the second edition of this series!

The last time, I emphasized the importance of understanding what your skin is trying to tell you. (Read more here) That includes keeping an eye out for subtle changes, and adjusting your skincare to balance it. Now that the foundation is laid, let's move on to the next step.

Facial oils are quite the rage lately, but how do you choose the perfect one for you skin? We've got you covered, no worries :)

Gravitale Revitalizing Skin Gel : Review

As a dry skin queen, I know and love my scrubs. Each time I scrub my skin clean, I fall a little more in love with how smooth it feels! I'm a firm believer in the power of exfoliants to not only make my skin healthy, but also help my skin care products work a bit better.

If you've been with C&D for long, you'll know I stick to a weekly exfoliation routine, head to toe. It's an integral part of my weekend pamper sessions, so I'm always on the lookout for high quality and (preferably) organic scrubs to use.

I think most of you will recall seeing Gravitale on Purplle quite a while ago. The product then was marketed as a grape scrub and it sounded promising, so I bought a jar of it. Therefore, even though we were sent a PR sample at its recent relaunch, this review is going to encompass the experience of 3 women who've been using it since ages ☺

Experimenting With A Waistcoat : OOTD !

First of all, thank you so much for liking my very first outfit post! Your appreciation really means a lot and well, it has encouraged me to finally do some more of them!

Here's the 2nd one. This is special because (a) I have wanted to add a loose trouser type thing in my wardrobe for so long and I finally found the perfect pair (b) Ashish made me throw on a waistcoat, which I normally would never have, and I ended up liking it a lot!

Essence I Love Nude Eyeshadow, Coffee Bean : Review

Even though brown eyes are considered to be quite versatile, I always end up in a dilemma regarding what eyeshadows to put on my lids. With Makeup Revolution's Iconic 1 and Iconic 3, and Iconic Pro 1 (the newest hero in my collection), I consider myself the queen of neutrals.

Even then I wasn't satisfied. While on the hunt for something to quench my thirst I stumbled upon this gem, and the fact that it was so budget-friendly led me to buy it in 2 minutes flat!

Meet Coffee Bean, the only eyeshadow I'm convinced I'll hit pan on!

My Current Haircare Routine

When it comes to hair, we all have different types and different issues, which is why I do not recommend many hair products often. What suits me, might not really work for you.
But since a lot of you have been requesting this one, here are the products I am currently using for my hair.

I do put in a new product every now and then to test/try out, but these are the ones that have been working really well for me and have become a permanent part of my stash.

New In My Brush Cleaning Kit : PAC Instant Brush Cleanser

I have wanted an instant brush cleanser for the longest time. I mean, how awesome would it be to be doing your makeup, clean your brush in a jiffy and use the same brush again in that very moment? It also meant that I would not require like 10 eye brushes, I could do with just 2 or 3.

For a long time, the only one available was by MAC and I wasn't ready to spend a bomb on that one. But I found this one by PAC recently and it was all that I could have ever wanted, within a reasonable price!

The Lazy Girl's Guide to Fabulous Brows!

Back in my teenage days, when women were threading their eyebrows as thin as death, my mother never let me thread them at all. On top of that I used to apply castor oil on them every now and then. End result? I had thick dark brows. And while I desperately wanted them to be threaded and shaped like everyone else was doing, I am so thankful that I was not allowed to!!

Bold natural brows are back in trend and how! And they are here to stay.
There is nothing better than a woman with thick full eyebrows, so girls, keep those tweezers down!

Today, I am talking about the basics you would need to make your eyebrow look on fleek! Read on!

So I Finally Tried Palazzos : OOTD !

Curios and Dreams has been up and running for over 4 years now, and yet we had not done any OOTDs so far. Why so?
Well, firstly because Smriti and I stay in different cities, away from home. You can see how getting photos clicked would be an issue.
Secondly, I am a huge camera phobic!! I love clicking photos and could do it all day. But put me in front of a camera and I get extremely uncomfortable, give weird expressions and in general just want to run far far away!
So much for OOTDs! *sigh*

Anyway, I was finally made to try palazzos a while back (I was convinced I wouldn't look good in them...short girl problems!) and my co-blogger Ashish, finally convinced me (read - pestered me enough) to do an outfit post. So here I am!

This is my 1st outfit post, so naturally I am quite nervous about your thoughts. Be kind, ok? :)

L’Oreal Paris Collection Star Pink Vernis, Sonam : Review & NOTD

Somehow, most things I tend to like get discontinued! Are you one of those as well?
Imagine the frustration, when you come across a perfect color, one you would repurchase again and again only to know that the one you have will probably be the last one.

This is how it is with the L’Oreal Paris Collection Star Pink Vernis collection, especially the Sonam Kapoor variant! I think the collection has been discontinued (correct me if I am wrong) and it is out of stock online almost everywhere! Sigh

I purchased a bottle of this, my mother liked the color so much that I asked her to keep it. Shortly afterwards, I realised that I needed it in my life, and went on such a hunt to get it!
You have no idea how happy I am to have found it ( I think I managed to get hold of it from Amazon at last).

You've already taken a peek into Swati's travel bag, and it's one of the most popular posts on the blog! Elder sisters are always a role model and so I decided to dedicate a post to my bag as well.

Elder sisters are also always more efficient, so while she had split her travel bag into Makeup, Skincare, and Tools, and also a bonus Weekend edition! I'm going to be lazy and showcase it all at once 😛

Nykaa has been rolling out new collections one after the other, and I am sure that their nail polishes are one of the most popular products.
We at C&D quite love them as well, and have reviewed some of the matte shades from the original collection here and here. Then they launced the Nude Matte collection and tempted us further.
Credit must also be given to Krupa from Ishtyle Awhile who swatched it on Insta stories and I could not resist any more. So here is Nutcracker Dreams for you :)

The Instax Mini 7s....and why we are addicted to it!

A while back, we were invited by Fujifilm to witness the launch of their new Instax Mini7s and the Instax Mini8 Bundle Pack.

The event itself was a super fun one and we walked back home with the new Instax 7s to test and try. Shortly afterwards, exams came around and I wasn't able to give the camera a proper go.
I finally took it out last month and have not been able to stop using it ever since! Here's why:

I love blog sales! Which beauty lover does not? You get to try new brands and products without investing toooo much money.
I had never heard of Cargo Cosmetics before, and Divya from The Conscience Fund was the sweetest ever and threw this in along with our other purchases from her blog sale.

Kids, Putting Their Best Foot Forward!

Remember the old days, when we were young and had only about 2 pairs of basic shoes?
Of course this counts in the home slippers. If you were a girl, you probably had a nice pair of ballerinas which you wore when going out to a fancy place. Okay maybe another one in a different color, just to be fancy. And boys had a pair of sport shoes. All the 90's kids will know what I am saying.

A tea lover's tryst with Tea Treasure...!

Not many people know this about us, but Swati is an ardent coffee lover while I worship tea.

Tea for me is not just a treat for the taste buds, it holds great sentimental value as well. Evening chai is a family ritual, and I've been known to accompany my mother in drinking 3-4 cups in a day!

Although at home we love the quintessential chai, I've broadened my horizon and learnt to appreciate the wide variety of teas the world has to offer. I especially love Twinnings Earl Grey and Lemon & Ginger, and I'm lusting after berry flavoured teas.

While searching for good quality herbal teas available in India, I stumbled across Tea Treasure, a website dedicated to fulfilling all your tea needs while guaranteeing to make the whole experience a deeply satisfying one. Needless to say my happiness knew no bounds and I immediately knew I had to give it a try!

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer, Stellar : Review

When it comes to lips, I usually never stray from nudes.

It's not just the profession's demand, but also a matter of convenience. Having a few different toned MLBB shades in my collection makes it easy to pull together any look, no worries!

However, every now and then I like to do a complete U turn and sport a bright lip, be it a special occasion or just to run an errand! It's good to shake thing up, right?

And that's when beauties like Stellar take the limelight. And with that crazy pigmentation, and even crazier neon tinge, it's hard to keep Stellar away from attention... believe me.

Kama Ayurveda Pure Lavender Water : Review

One of the first skincare products I was introduced to by my mother was rose water, and ever since the Fab India steam distilled rose water was the only toner / face mist in my stash. I still think it's one of the better budget rosewaters available in our market and will repurchase or recommend it without a thought.

However, Swati always raved about the Kama Ayurveda pure rosewater being so fragrant, so luxurious, that I gave in to the greed and ordered for myself the Lavender variant (to justify the new purchase, two different flowers means separate benefits right?)

Real Techniques Powder Brush : Review

Even if you have the best of makeup, it is very important to have the right tools to apply them. Don't you all agree?
And while there are lovely brushes available (I have many on my wishlist) most of them are often quite expensive, unfortunately. And someday (when I am quite a makeup pro, I might get them). But for now, all I need are good quality brushes that are priced well....that way I can build my collection you see :)

When it comes to buying makeup brushes, Real Techniques is mostly what I reach out for without hesitation.

We have already reviewed their Stippling Brush, Expert Face Brush and Miracle Complexion Sponge in depth previously. Obviously, if you read the previous posts, you will know by now that we at CnD really love these brushes!
Adding to my collection, I got their Powder Brush a few months back and obviously I like it a lot!

I Need A Vacation! #AbKahan

I am sure you have heard me mention this several times here and on social media by now!

The basic thing is - Life has been super stressful at work and in general. I find myself giving exams every other day. Don't even get me started on last week...it was an absolute nightmare. Imagine having to give exams 8:00 am - 10:30 pm for 2 days straight...yes, that is how it was! I am continuous in lack of sleep, have permanent eye bags and dark circles and to top it all, I am losing hair like crazy (read - shedding).

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara : Review

When it comes to mascaras, I generally tend to like the Maybelline ones.
My first mascara was the Hypercurl one, I quickly upgraded to Colossal and when I tried out the Falsies...well, that was love! No matter which mascara I am testing/trying, I will always have a tube of Falsies in my stash!

Even the Falsies Big Eyes was a good one, especially with a smaller wand for the lower lashes.
Unfortunately though, I did not like the Magnum Barbie one that much and went back to my trusted Falsies.

But when they came out with the Falsies Push Up Drama, I was super hopeful, afterall, it was from the Falsies family...!

SoulFlower Coldpressed Rosehip Carrier Oil : Review

Oils are my new thing. I 'discovered' them quite late, but late is better than never!

When all the beauty world was taken by storm by facial oils, I was happily sleeping under a rock. Then I randomly stumbled onto the Extraordinary Boosting Elixir by L'Oreal and got curious. After the first application, I was a convert. I do not think I will ever let facial oils out of my sight ever again. Double emphasis! I've looked into it quite a bit and a post about oils and different skin types is mulling in the back of my mind right now, but for now let me introduce you to this little bottle of goodness :)

Gillette Venus Breeze Session with Kalki Koechlin

Hello everyone!
If you have been following our blog closely, you would probably know by now that when it comes to hair removal, we have pretty much stopped waxing a long time back. Who has the time to schedule a salon appointment these days or the patience to wait till the hair grows back completely?!

No way. So when it comes to hair removal there are 2 methods I prefer these days....epilation and shaving.
While epilation is a good method, it does take time too. Which brings me to shaving! Such a life saviour! 10 minutes in the shower and you are all done!

Gillete Venus is probably the only name that comes to most of our minds when we hear shaving, doesn't it? And rightly so. They have revolutionized the entire shaving process when it comes to women.
Gone are the days when you had to make do with the standard 10 rupee mens razor.

Venus introduced us to felxible heads, ergonomic handles and the power of 3 blades instead of one! Shaving has never been the same and there is certainly no looking back!
While we have reviwed the Venus razor long back on the blog, the latest variant Gillette has to offer is Breeze  which takes shaving to another level entirely.

theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer : Swatches, Review

I tried my hand at contouring finally around July last year and after the first few tries, I really liked how it carved some cheeks out of all the chubbiness going on and also made my jaw line a bit sharper! Boy, was I missing out on things! :D

So, while I picked up the Freedom Bronzed Professional (full review here) initially as a beginner, the makeup lover in me had an eye on theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer since the very beginning!
Don't think that the Freedom one did not perform well, it did, and I still use it many days....It's just that a makeup geek can never stop at one! :D
And ever since I have tried the Mary Lou Manizer (reviewed here) from the brand, I had been dying to try out more products from theBalm.

Zara Woman, Pear & White Flowers EDT : Review

I don't know about you, but when I am in Zara, I cannot leave the place without taking a stroll by their fragrance shelves. I found one of my favourite perfumes in Zara about 2 years back (more on that one some other day...soon!) and ever since I always look out for more :)

On one such random stroll, I found the Zara Pear and White Flowers. One whiff of this one and I was sold! Not to mention that they had the fragrance in a small bottle with a roller ball head, making it super ideal to carry in your handbag (and I had been on the lookout for a perfume I could carry around!). It seemed like this was made for me :) :)

Summer OOTD #1

Summers are pretty much intolerable in our country. And this year Bangalore has been sorching as well. Gone are the rainy windy evenings that were so typical of the city.
So, what do you do when the temperature is rising with each passing day? Keep those full pants and jeggings away and pull out your stack of shorts to dress comfy!

Here's a quick OOTD we did on one such summer evening.
